The Nihon Goshin Aikido association is headquartered in Middletown NY under the leadership of Shihan Robert MacEwen Jr. The headquarters certifies all students and instructors in the art of Nihon Goshin Aikido through out the country and internationally.
With numerous schools and study groups through out the country, the NGA association headquarters provides the direction and guidance for how the art of Nihon Goshin Aikido is taught and the requirements to obtain any given rank in the style of Nihon Goshin Aikido. Through out the years of the Nihon Goshin Aikido association there has been numerous students that have been promoted to black belt level and some have gone on to open their own schools. The main focus of the NGA headquarters is to insure that the martial art of Nihon Goshin Aikido that is being taught, is consistence through out the country and students training in the art can be assured that their instructor is certified to teach the martial art of Nihon Goshin Aikido.
As a martial art, Nihon Goshin Aikido incorporates the throwing of the judo arts, the joint locking of jujitsu arts, and the kicks and strikes of karate.
In addition to being in the leadership position for the NGA association, Shihan MacEwen operates The Aikido School of Self Defense, located in Middletown, NY, which is the continually operating Martial Arts school in Orange County, New York. It was established in September 1980.
